For spherical roller thrust bearings it is advisable to use s₀ ≥ 4, for full complement tapered roller bearings (screw-down bearings) s₀ ≥ 2,5, and for cylindrical and tapered roller bearings with steel, pin-type cages s₀ ≥ 2.

1. 1) Where the magnitude of the shock load is not known, values of s₀ which are at least as large as those quoted above should be used. If the magnitude of the shock loads is known, smaller values of s₀ can be applied.
